BRENDA LENAGHAN, RSW

 

1963

Diploma in Commercial & Graphic Design, Glasgow School of Art
   
1963 - 1966  

Immediately after leaving Art School, Brenda worked for Bernat Klein, manufacturer of tweeds, in Galashiels and for the great designers of that period, including Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.

She taught in various Glasgow schools but latterly at St. Columba’s School, Kilmacolm.

Brenda moved to Gullane in East Lothian in 1970 and started to paint and exhibited, firstly with the Scottish Society of Women Artists, then the RSA, RGI and RSW.

Since 1984, Brenda has held a Solo Exhibition every year and has exhibited regularly in various mixed shows.

Brenda's ideas are inspired by something seen, mainly whilst travelling.  Her travels have taken Brenda to India, Tibet, China and most of Europe and Russia.  With her son, Nicholas, currently living and working in Japan as a landscape architect, Brenda visits as often as she can and the Art of Japan has had a profound effect on her recent work.
